This week the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that its website, www.vaccines.gov, the first federal website to offer culturally relevant vaccine resources for consumers is now available in Spanish. This is important for the families and caregivers of Hispanic older adults as information related to immunizations is consolidated and in both languages.
Both versions of the site offer the latest vaccine recommendations, easy-to-read immunization schedules, and tools on where to find vaccines and make them more affordable. Given that Hispanic older adults are less likely to get immunized, having access to vaccine-related information is key to help raise awareness of the need for immunizations throughout their lives.
Visit Vaccines.gov in Spanish at www.es.vaccines.gov and help older adults in your life to stay healthy with immunizations.
Vacunémonos! Let’s get vaccinated!
Vacunémonos (Let’s Get Vaccinated) is a culturally, linguistically, and age sensitive community intervention that aims at increasing adult vaccination rates among Hispanics.
