The National Hispanic Council on Aging is proud to announce the appointment of the newest member to our Board of Directors. Rafael Robert is a business professional who has worked for over 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry. His work has not only been in the for profit sector, as he has worked along nonprofit organizations to address health issues affecting minority communities in the United States.

“It’s an honor to have Rafael Robert join our board, his business acumen of years of experience working in the for profit sector and the pharmaceutical industry will be an asset to NHCOA as the organization looks for new mechanisms of supporting and advancing its work” said Dr. Yanira Cruz, President and CEO of NHCOA.

Mr. Robert was instrumental in the creation of the Hispanic Health Summit along with the National Council of la Raza. He also worked with the National Medical Association to create the first African American Health Summit. Both of these examples of his work demonstrate his dedication to health disparities in minority groups and his commitment to taking action to address important issues affecting our communities.

“Rafael has been a tremendous partner for NHCOA as a member of the Business Advisory Council; and now will bring his business acumen, expertise, and passion for the Latino community to bear on the issues of our elders as a member of the board of directors” commented Dr. Octavio Martinez, chairman of the NHCOA Board of Directors.

The NHCOA Board of Directors is the governing body of the organization and having the insight of Mr. Robert will be an instrumental asset in continuing to spread our mission and working to improve the lives of Hispanic older adults, their families and caregivers.

“I am honored to have been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Hispanic Council on Aging. For years I have admired and supported the work this organization has done to improve the lives of Hispanic Older adults, their families and caregivers. I look forward to contributing to the amazing work that under the strong leadership of Dr. Yanira Cruz and the current Board of Directors, this fantastic organization is set to accomplish in the future” said Mr. Robert about his appointment.
